Call for papers for the Ruhuna University International Conference on Humanities and Social Sciences (RUICHSS) 2018 is now open. The conference is scheduled to be held on March 29-30, 2018 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Ruhuna under the theme, “Ethics, Morality and Spirituality in Globalized Society”.


Under the theme of “Spirit of sprouting researchers of tomorrow” the Ruhuna Arts Students’ Annual Sessions (RASAS) was held on August 10, 2017 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Ruhuna. There were 88 papers of the undergraduate researchers in Sri Lanka. Professor Liyanage Amarakeerthi delivered the keynote speech.


The launching of the second volume of the Awalokana Shasthreeya Sangrahaya was held on September 7, 2017 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Auditorium, University of Ruhuna. The chief guest was the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ruhuna. The History and Archaeology Society of the Department of History and Archaeology publishes this annual research journal.

English Camp


An English camp was organized by the English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) in collaboration with the John Keels Foundation and the Gateway International. This was held on September 11-15, 2017 in order to enhance communicative skills in English and soft skills of the final year undergraduate students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
