Ms. Hemanthi Hidellaarachchi was invited to present as a featured speaker at the 35th SPELT International Conference by the Society of Pakistan English language Teachers (SPELT).
An English camp was organized by the ELTU in collaboration with John Keels Foundation and Gateway International from September 11-15, 2017 in order to enhance communicative skills in English and soft skills of the final year undergraduates of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Ms. Hemanthi Hidellaarachchi was invited to present as a featured speaker at the 35th SPELT International Conference by the Society of Pakistan English language Teachers (SPELT).

Head's Message
The Department of English Language Teaching conducts compulsory foundation courses in General English Language Proficiency for the undergraduates in all faculties of the University to achieve English language skills essential in their academic as well as professional life.
The courses conducted by the Department of English Language Teaching cater to improve the students’ ability to use the language in their studies to a level which helps them exchange ideas with peers through classroom exercises and research. A number of academics supported by an experienced visiting staff serve on a regular basis.
In addition, the Department of English Language Teaching conducts weekend external courses in English to help the public to attain their professional aspirations. The external courses focus on employees needing English in their working environment.
As an academic entity, the department serves both undergraduates and the public, to help the University of Ruhuna to fulfill its valuable mission as the knowledge hub in the Southern province.
